I am a lifelong designer and problem solver who is driven by creating. Originally a Product Designer, I have transfered my strengths in developing products and finding innnovative solutions to the software development eco-system. Through self-learning and a bootcamp, my drive for learning is fuelled by the array of diverse technologies, I as a developer, can implement in my projects.

my journey

2018

I started my journey into software development as a designer. In hindsight there were a lot of similarities. Product design is based on solving real world problems with physical objects. However, in my final year project i decided to learn arduino to create a sensor controlled standing fan. This sparked my interest in solving problems via coding.

2020

After spending a couple of years freelancing as a designer. I felt I could better apply my knack for problem solving in software. My experience in analysing project briefs as well as interacting with customers to better understand their needs, I believe I could carry these skills into the development eco-system.

2021

This is when I decided to start self-learning python. However, I noticed I was missing a bigger picture view of the software ecosystem. This is when I decided to join General Assembly as a student. This provided me with the understanding of production ready tools to build my knowledge and gain a confidence in software development.

LaunchPad is a React based app designed to provide up-to-date rocket launch information with a community voting feature used to verify user posted updates. The backend is written in Django with CRUD capability.
picturest
Picturest is a React based app inspired by pinterest. It allows users to upload and geotag pictures. This allows photographers to find new photography opportunities. The app has a follow function as well as the ability to create a favourites collection. The back-end is built with express with a React front-end.
my night in
My Night In is a concept marketing tool designed around the PUNK brewery api and themealdb api to generate random selections of beer and food. Users are able to filter their selections by ABV and Cuisine as well as being able to save their selection.
battleships
Battleships is a javascript version of the classic game battleships. I used Pure javascript to create a computer player which can intuitively find and destroy player ships. It is styled with HTML and CSS and uses DOM elements to create responsive gameplay elements.

Formula 1 Every sunday you can find me watching the latest GP supporting my local racing outfit McLaren, I am inspired by the technical aspect of the cars, especially the problem solving when it comes to creating faster cars within regulations.

Science Fiction If its a science fiction film, I've definitely seen it. I take a lot of my inspiration from fictional futuristic concepts. 2001 and BladeRunner for me, are a significant influence.
